I can’t help but cry. I never knew I would cry so much over someone I barely even know. And even though I don’t know him personally, he has affected still affects my life. Throughout my whole life, I only remember seeing him in person once, at World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto. It was a rainy Sunday morning, just before Mass. Thousands of youth around the world gathered together, waiting for his arrival so he can celebrate Mass. As soon as he arrived in his helicopter, everyone’s head looked up towards the sky and their bodies were filled with happiness, including mine. The sun came out through the clouds and afterwards, he celebrated a beautiful Sunday Mass at WYD. He has a big affect on my life, as well as millions more. And if he passes in the next few hours or days, I’m just praying he’ll die peacefully. The only thing I do know is that it’s all in God’s hands.
