More Notes for A Beautiful Heart

♥ Every song you love, every moment you cherish, every moment that has moved you to holy tears, all have been given to you from the One who has been pursuing you from your first breath in order to win your heart. God’s version of flowers and chocolates and candlelight dinners come in the form of sunsets and falling stars, moonlight on lakes and cricket symphonies, warm wind, swaying trees, lush gardens, and fierce devotion.

♥ This is immensely personal. God’s romantic gifts will be specifically for your heart. He knows what takes breath away, knows what makes your heart beat faster. We have missed many of His love notes simply because we shut down our hearts in order to endure the pain of life. Now, in our healing journey, we must open our hearts again and keep them open. Not foolishly, not to anyone and anything. But yes, we must choose to open our hearts again so that we might hear His whispers, receive His kisses.

♥ What is it that God wants from us?
God wants the same thing that you want. He wants to be loved. He wants to be known as only loves can know one another. He wants intimacy with you.

♥ Reading George MacDonald several years ago I came across an astounding thought. You’ve probably heard that in every human heart there is a place that God alone can fill. But the old poet was saying that there is also in God’s heart a place that you alone can fill. You are meant to fill a place in the heart of God that no one and nothing else can fill.

You are the one who overwhelms His heart with just once glance of your eyes. You are the one he sings over with delight and longs to dane with you across mountaintops and ballroom floors. You are the one who takes His breath away by your beautiful heart that against all odds hopes in Him. Let that be true for a moment. Let it be true of you.

♥ God wants to live this life together with you, to share in your days and decisions, your desires and disappointments. He wants intimacy with you in the midst of the madness and mundane, the meetings and the memos, the laundry and the lists, the carpools and conversations, and projects and pain. He wants to pour His love into your heart, and He longs to have you pour yours into His. God wants your deep heart, that center place within that is truest of you. He is not interested in intimacy with the woman you think you are supposed to be. He wants intimacy with the real you.

——-

Every day, He finds ways to woo us. Sometimes we don’t realize it at the moment. It’s a shame that at times, I don’t fully appreciate what He blesses me with. I break His heart. I break His heart over and over again. During the hardest moments of my days, my self-centeredness and the chaos of the things that have deadlines the following day seem to make me lose focus on all the blessings He’s given me every minute and every hour of that very same day.

He gives us these things for a reason. He gives us our simple joys for a reason. Just like any boyfriend would want to buy flowers for their girlfriend or take them out to dinner to show he appreciates her and loves her, the same with God. God gives us these wonderful blessings because He loves us and appreciates us, in such a greater way; a way in which no one else can provide like He can. He wants you. He wants me. He wants us.
